Ghost of Yōtei: Ξεχωρίζει στις φετινές υποψηφιότητες των New York Game Awards 2026

Οι υποψηφιότητες για τα New York Game Awards 2026 ανακοινώθηκαν και το Ghost of Yōtei αναδεικνύεται ως το μεγάλο φαβορί της φετινής διοργάνωσης, συγκεντρώνοντας τις περισσότερες διακρίσεις και επιβεβαιώνοντας τη δυναμική του ως ένα από τα σημαντικότερα games της χρονιάς.

Ο τίτλος της Sucker Punch Productions, που κυκλοφορεί αποκλειστικά για PlayStation, διεκδικεί συνολικά τέσσερα βραβεία, ανάμεσά τους και αυτό του Best Game of the Year, ενώ ξεχωρίζει και στις κατηγορίες Best Writing και Best Music. Παράλληλα, η Erika Ishii προτάθηκε για Best Acting για την ερμηνεία της ως Atsu.

Στην κατηγορία του Game of the Year, ο ανταγωνισμός είναι ιδιαίτερα έντονος, καθώς δίπλα στο Ghost of Yōtei συναντάμε τίτλους που άφησαν ισχυρό αποτύπωμα μέσα στο 2025. Το Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 της Sandfall Interactive συνεχίζει να εντυπωσιάζει με την καλλιτεχνική του ταυτότητα.

Την ίδια στιγμή, το Hades 2 της Supergiant Games επιβεβαιώνει ότι η επιτυχία του πρώτου τίτλου δεν ήταν τυχαία, εδραιώνοντας το studio ως ένα από τα πιο σταθερά ονόματα στον χώρο των indie και AA παραγωγών.

Ιδιαίτερη αίσθηση προκαλεί και η έντονη παρουσία της Nintendo, η οποία αναδεικνύεται ως ο εκδότης με τις περισσότερες συνολικές υποψηφιότητες. Τίτλοι όπως τα Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond και Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Star-Crossed World εκπροσωπούν διαφορετικά genres και ηλικιακά κοινά, επιβεβαιώνοντας τη στρατηγική της εταιρείας να επενδύει τόσο σε εμβληματικά franchises όσο και σε νέες ιδέες με ευρεία απήχηση.

Η παρουσία τους σε κατηγορίες όπως Best Kids Game, Best Music και Best DLC δείχνει τη συνεχιζόμενη επιρροή της Nintendo στη βιομηχανία.

Η φετινή διοργάνωση ξεχωρίζει και για την εισαγωγή μιας νέας κατηγορίας, του Best New York Game, η οποία εστιάζει σε παραγωγές που αναπτύχθηκαν από στούντιο με έδρα τη Νέα Υόρκη. Σύμφωνα με τον ιδρυτή και πρόεδρο του New York Videogame Critics Circle, Harold Goldberg, η απόφαση αυτή αντικατοπτρίζει την ανάγκη να δοθεί μεγαλύτερη προβολή στη δημιουργική κοινότητα της πόλης, η οποία τα τελευταία χρόνια παρουσιάζει αξιοσημείωτη ανάπτυξη και διεθνή αναγνώριση.

Τα New York Game Awards συμπληρώνουν φέτος 15 χρόνια ζωής και θα πραγματοποιηθούν στις 18 Ιανουαρίου 2026 στο SVA Theatre στο Manhattan.
