Η αστροφωτογραφία έχει την μαγική ικανότητα να μας κάνει να νιώθουμε δύο αντίθετα συναισθήματα: τη ασήμαντη ύπαρξη σε έναν απέραντο σύμπαν, αλλά και την απόλυτη έκπληξη και θαυμασμό μπροστά στην απεραντοσύνη και την ομορφιά του. Και οι δύο αυτές αντιδράσεις είναι απόλυτα κατανοητές και δικαιολογημένες. Είμαστε απλά μικροί κάτοικοι ενός μεσαίου πλανήτη, που περιστρέφεται μέσα σε ένα σύμπαν γεμάτο από δισεκατομμύρια γαλαξίες — ένα σύμπαν εκπληκτικό στο θέαμά του.

Για τους φωτογράφους που τιμήθηκαν στα βραβεία «Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2025», το σύμπαν είναι η πηγή της έμπνευσής τους.

Η διοργάνωση, που φέτος γιορτάζει την 17η της χρονιά, συγκεντρώνει κάθε χρόνο τους πιο ταλαντούχους αστροφωτογράφους από όλο τον κόσμο. Μια εξειδικευμένη κριτική επιτροπή, που αποτελείται από προσωπικότητες των τεχνών και της αστρονομίας, αναδεικνύει τους νικητές σε εννέα κατηγορίες, δύο ειδικά βραβεία, καθώς και τον απόλυτο νικητή. Η ανακοίνωση των βραβείων για το 2025 έχει προγραμματιστεί για την Πέμπτη 11 Σεπτεμβρίου.
